We are glad you are interested in purchasing stock from us. A deposit of $100 will hold the buck kid of your choice, but we do not take deposits on doe kids. If the buck kid of your choice is not born or does not meet our standards of quality, your deposit may be returned, transferred to another choice, or retained for the next year. For doe kids, we keep a list of interested buyers and once we have gotten through kidding, we contact anyone on the list in order received. If you are interested in a doeling, let us know and you will be put on a list. If you want a doeling from a specific breeding, let us know that as well. We typically sell about 5-7 milkers a year, most show quality, some for production homes.
We STRONGLY recommend that prospective buyers of both does and bucks contact us to make a first and second choice. Before kids are shipped or allowed to leave our farm, all money is to be paid in full . The buyer is also responsible for the cost of any health testing or health certificate (for out-of-state buyers) and a shipping crate (if needed). We reserve the right to retain any kid for herd replacement.
There are no refunds on cancelled orders if your kid is born, healthy, and free of any defects. Once you are notified of the birth of your kid, we ask that you promptly make arrangements to come pick up your kid or arrange transport. We prefer to keep and raise kids until they are 4 weeks old in order to evaluate the kid and dam, dis-bud, onboard initial vaccines and ensure they are off to a good start before they leave the farm. Kids should be planned to be picked up between 4-6 weeks of age.
With the new DNA testing requirement of buck kids prior to them being used, this is the responsibility of the new owner. We do pay for registration and will transfer the kids into the owners name at time of registration to speed up getting papers.
We have decided to no longer use air shipping due to the 6 hour round trip and complicated logistics in air shipping. We have been able to use ground transport for the past 4 years with no issues, and prefer this route. Health certificates needed by transporters are the financial responsibility of the buyer. If you would like to reserve an animal, you must figure out your own transport and have an idea on transport prior to making a reservation. We can suggest a few transporters we have worked with in the past or plan to make a trip to our farm.
Although we can sometimes geographically accommodate buyers along the I-90/94 corridor or deliver animals to shows we attend, we much prefer the pick up of animals to take place at our farm, especially during the busy spring and early summer.
Once again, thank you for your interest in Kara Kahl Farm!
